PSDS3 at Cranfield has just been shortlisted for the most innovative restoration project at this year’s Building Innovation Awards!
KAM’s project management team at Cranfield University were delighted to support on this project, working to decarbonise the first of two pre-World War II aircraft hangars.
The scheme involved internally cladding the hangar, installing new high velocity heating fed from the University District Heating network with a new Air handling unit, replaced the hangar doors with an insulated, fully automated system, and installed a new additional 1MW air source heat pump to support the district heating system. These new measures ensured better air tightness of the building, helping to reduce the energy input and therefore the overall carbon produced.
We are looking forward to sharing more on our decarbonisation services in the comming weeks.
Well done to everyone who was involved on this fantastic scheme!
