The new real estate sector group will be headed up by Directors Mark Shea (North regions) and Craig Short (South regions) who together bring with them a wealth of project management and cost management experience in private sector development, working for some of the largest blue-chip developers, funding institutions and occupiers across the UK. They have both previously held director positions at some of the largest national construction consultancies.
The KAM real estate group will comprise three sub-sectors; residential, commercial offices, and hospitality & leisure, which will be serviced from our specialist local delivery teams situated within our six UK offices (Milton Keynes, Cambridge, Leicester, Manchester, Nottingham, and Bristol) and our Frankfurt office in Germany.
KAM have a strong and diverse range of experience in residential development, spanning private sale and affordable housing, build to rent, student accommodation, and later living.
Our team understand the individual challenges facing complex residential developments and the inherent risks associated with the various tenures and typologies. We have a range of experience supporting investors and developers to deliver successful projects, including new-build, refurbishment schemes, and renovation of existing properties. Our focus is always to ensure maximum value and efficiency from any site, and ultimately provide our clients with the most viable development opportunity.
Our residential team, led by Adam Rohan and Karl Hofbauer, have consulted for key national residential developers including Muse and Grainger, as well as regional developers such as Cubex Land, Clayson Country Homes and Mayforth Developments, local authorities such as Wokingham Borough Council, and individual private clients. Adam Rohan, senior associate in our Bristol office, brings with him a track record of residential development in London. He has worked on a range of high profile mixed-use schemes and masterplans, including medium and high-rise tower construction and super prime residential.
We recognise that workplace design has evolved in the post pandemic world, and we tailor our advice accordingly. Current trends being discussed on our commercial projects include the introduction of flexible workplace environments, increased quality and extent of amenity space, private and shared outdoor terraces, SMART technologies, and health, wellness and connectivity for occupants.
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment and occupier demands are driving the creation of more sustainable workplace environments. Our commercial sector team can provide bespoke advice to ensure the cost effective delivery of all current sustainability accreditations and aspirations such as Net Carbon Zero, BREEAM, WELL, FitWel, Nabers, Wiredscore, and Reset.
Craig Short is our commercial office sector lead at KAM. He brings almost 20 years of cost management and employer’s agent experience in the commercial sector, having worked for clients such as AXA Investment Managers, Legal & General, CEG, Bell Hammer, Cubex, and V7. Craig has managed the procurement and contract negotiations on some of the most high profile Grade A office developments in Bristol city centre.
Our team brings expertise and knowledge in the development, refurbishment and conversion of hotels across all segments from budget to luxury. We work closely with developers, owners and hotel brands to help them to deliver successful outcomes and projects – a one team approach. Our understanding of the key cost and programme drivers, combined with understanding of the balance between creating operational efficiency and guest experience means we are well placed to support our clients.
Mark Shea, director at KAM Project Consultants Ltd brings over 25 years of experience in providing cost and project management support to clients in the hospitality and leisure sector and has delivered projects for Clients across the UK, Europe and Middle East regions. Mark’s depth of experience gained and success enjoyed have been underpinned by striving to deliver excellence for clients, to understand their aspirations and help them achieve solutions to the challenges and problems that they face.
