A new head office for ASDA's non-food business
Client: ASDA Stores Ltd (George)
Category: Commercial and Mixed Use
Project Status: Completed
The continued growth of non-food products meant Asda’s George brand was expanding rapidly, but the existing headquarters were no longer large enough, or met with the developing image. The brief for the new George House was to create a fresh new working environment, which incorporated sustainable initiatives and would become a showpiece for its worldwide business.
The 85,000 sq ft building was designed to house 500 colleagues who were involved with the non-food offer of clothing and footwear. The building included traditional office/desk space, mock shops, meeting rooms and product testing rooms.
The project was a real success for Asda, with the team receiving praise from Walmart directors who visited from America.
- Extensive workshops with the various departments to lead them through developing the building brief
- Sustainable building design
- Large roof terrace for events and meetings
- Full height reception area
